Jewish Heritage Tour with Sarah Lev

On this tour, we will explore one of the many religions in Singapore, a country that seves as a beautiful example of how all faiths can live together in peace and harmony.

From our meeting point we will walk to the Chesed-El Synagogue. This art deco-style building was completed in 1905 and served as a private synagogue for Sir Menashe Meyer.

During our visit, Sarah will share stories focusing on the founding fathers of the Iraqi Jewish community in Singapore.

We will then take a local bus and walk through the old Jewish neighborhood called " Mahala " to learn about Jewish life and see where  prominent residents such as David Marshall and Jacob Ballas used to live.

We will get a chance to see the only two remaining Jewish buildings, the David Elias building constructed in 1928 and the Isaac Ellison Building dated 1924.

Our last stop will be at the Maghain Aboth Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in Southeast Asia, built in 1878-where we will also visit the Jews of Singapore Museum.

Please bring your passports along on the day of the tour.

Dress code: no shorts ( for men & women ) please cover shoulders if wearing spaghetti straps, etc...Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring a hat, an umbrella and water.
